I was reading your blog and had to laugh. I spent the summers of my youth on Log lake in Kalkaska sailing an 11′ styrofoam sea snark. My parents now live on Elk lake and i remember seeing a Ranger 23 in the harbor. Was that yours? I have raced all different kinds of sailboats from ice boats to maxi boats for 40 years. Now I am building a Bristol Channel Cutter that my wife and I plan to launch summer 2010. Then head south someday. Good luck and we will be following along.

Eric,
Thats great about your Bristol Channel Cutter. Very exciting! I remember Log Lake very well. I played there as a kid. But I sailed on Grand Traverse Bay from Traverse City and E. Bay from Elk Rapids. I wasn’t ever on Elk Lake, but was surely at the harbor. That Ranger 23 is for sale now. Its a great boat and I hate to part with her, but no reason to keep two boats!

Teresa, your vote count is starting to rise. That’s a good thing… Sunny and 65 in Southern New Mexico. How’s your day?

Teresa,
Great video! We’re 2 1/2 years into our 5 year plan and we’ve been following your blog with some interest. We currently own a Compac 27/2 but we’ll be trading up when we leave full time. It’s enough space for the 2 of us for weekends, but a little small for full time cruising. She’s a great lake boat though and she keeps us quite content 3 days a week.
Hope to see you out there soon!
